1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, accessing, or using SyncLight, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. Description of SyncLight

SyncLight is an entertainment app that helps people synchronize light effects across phones in a shared room. A host can create a room; guests can join with a room code or QR code. The app uses Firebase Anonymous Authentication and Firebase Realtime Database to sync room membership and effect configuration. SyncLight does not stream live video or audio between devices.

3. Safety and photosensitive epilepsy warning

SyncLight includes flashing lights, strobe effects, and flash effects. These effects can trigger seizures in individuals with photosensitive epilepsy and may cause discomfort, dizziness, nausea, or headaches in other people.

  • Do not use SyncLight near anyone who is sensitive to flashing or strobe lights.
  • Do not use SyncLight while driving, cycling, or operating machinery.
  • If you feel discomfort, stop using the app immediately and leave any active effect screen.
  • Hosts should warn guests before starting intense flashing effects.

SyncLight is an entertainment product only. It is not a medical device, and it does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. You are responsible for using the app safely in your environment.

4. Acceptable use

You agree that you will not:

  • Use SyncLight to harass, threaten, spam, or otherwise disturb other people
  • Use SyncLight in a way that creates an unreasonable risk of harm, injury, or property damage
  • Attempt to disrupt rooms, bypass security controls, abuse Firebase APIs, or interfere with the service
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, or misuse the app except where applicable law expressly allows it
  • Use SyncLight for any unlawful purpose
  • Impersonate others or submit content you do not have the right to use

You are responsible for the nicknames you enter and for how you use light effects around other people.

5. Accounts and anonymity

SyncLight currently uses Firebase Anonymous Authentication. You are not required to create an account with an email address or real name to use core room features. Anonymous credentials may be reset if you reinstall the app or clear app data, which can affect room history and identity continuity.

6. Ownership of content and software

SyncLight, including its software, design, logos, and documentation, is owned by SyncLight Developer or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership of the app to you. You receive a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use SyncLight for personal or small-group entertainment in accordance with these Terms.

Nicknames and other user-entered text remain your responsibility. You grant us a limited right to process that content as needed to operate room features.

7. Availability and service interruption

SyncLight depends on your device, network connectivity, and third-party services such as Firebase. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or always-available service. Rooms, sync timing, presence, and effects may be delayed, interrupted, or unavailable because of network conditions, device performance, maintenance, outages, or changes to third-party platforms.

8. Third-party services

SyncLight uses or may use third-party services, including Firebase Authentication, Firebase Realtime Database, Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, Apple App Store services, Google Play services, and, in a later phase, RevenueCat and in-app billing providers. Your use of those services may also be subject to their terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.

9. Purchases, subscriptions, restore, cancellation, and refunds

SyncLight may later offer paid features, including auto-renewable subscriptions, through Apple In-App Purchase and Google Play Billing, managed in part by RevenueCat. This section applies when those features become available.

  • Purchases: Prices, duration, and entitlements will be shown in the app or store listing before you buy.
  • Auto-renewable subscriptions: If offered, subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled according to the platform’s subscription settings before the renewal date.
  • Restore purchases: Where available, you may use an in-app restore flow to recover eligible purchases on a device or account supported by Apple or Google.
  • Cancellation: Manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings.
  • Refunds: Refund requests are handled under Apple’s or Google’s applicable refund policies and processes. We do not independently control store refund decisions.

10. Disclaimer

SyncLight is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis to the maximum extent permitted by law. We disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, and any warranties arising from course of dealing or usage of trade. We do not warrant that effects will be perfectly synchronized on every device or network.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SyncLight Developer and its contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or related to your use of SyncLight.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to SyncLight will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for SyncLight features in the three months before the claim or (b) USD $0 if you have not paid for SyncLight features.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.

12. Indemnity

To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless SyncLight Developer from and against claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of SyncLight, your violation of these Terms, or your use of flashing effects in an unsafe or unlawful manner.

13. Termination

You may stop using SyncLight at any time by uninstalling the app. We may suspend or terminate access to rooms or related services if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms, abused the service, or created risk to others. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including ownership, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and indemnity.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will revise the effective date and post the updated Terms at this URL. If you continue using SyncLight after changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms.
