Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how SyncLight (“SyncLight”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information when you use the SyncLight mobile application, also listed as SyncLight – Party Light Show.

Effective date: July 10, 2026
App package / bundle ID: com.syncligh.codex
Firebase project: synclight-codex

1. Who we are

SyncLight is a party light synchronization app that lets a host create a room and guests join so phones can show coordinated light effects. The app is operated by SyncLight Developer. For privacy questions, contact us at timeforwork789@gmail.com.

SyncLight is published globally on Apple App Store and Google Play under the listing name SyncLight – Party Light Show.

2. Scope

This Policy applies to the SyncLight iOS and Android apps identified by com.syncligh.codex, related Firebase backends for the project synclight-codex, and these public legal pages.

SyncLight does not currently require you to register with an email address or real name. Authentication is handled through Firebase Anonymous Authentication.

3. Information we collect

Depending on how you use SyncLight, we may process the following categories of information:

3.1 Firebase anonymous user identifier

When you open the app, Firebase Anonymous Authentication may create an anonymous user ID (UID). This UID is used to identify your session in rooms, membership, and presence updates. It is not your email address or legal name.

3.2 Nickname

You may enter a nickname when creating or joining a room. Nicknames are chosen by you and may be visible to other members of the same room. Do not enter sensitive personal information in a nickname.

3.3 Room membership and online status

If you create or join a room, we process room codes, host/guest role, join timestamps, and online or offline presence so other members can see who is in the room.

3.4 Effect usage and configuration

When a host starts or stops an effect, we process effect identifiers and configuration values such as color, speed, BPM, duration, playback state, and synchronized start timing. SyncLight does not stream video or audio between devices.

3.5 Analytics events

We use Firebase Analytics to understand product usage. Events may include app opens, room create/join actions, effect selection/start/stop, connection status changes, and similar product events. We design analytics so room codes, nicknames, and email addresses are not logged as analytics parameters.

3.6 Crash reports and diagnostics

We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports and related diagnostics. This may include device model, OS version, app version, stack traces, and limited custom diagnostic keys such as current screen or room state needed to debug failures.

3.7 Camera data

If you grant camera permission, the camera is used only on-device to scan QR codes that help you join a room. SyncLight does not use the camera to record, upload, or stream photos or video as part of normal room sync.

3.8 Local device storage

The app stores certain information locally on your device using SharedPreferences or equivalent local storage, such as nickname preferences and room history used for rejoin convenience.

3.9 Purchase-related information

SyncLight offers optional paid SyncLight Pro subscriptions through Apple In-App Purchase (iOS) and, when enabled, Google Play Billing (Android), managed with RevenueCat. Those services may process purchase tokens, subscription status, restore requests, and anonymized app-user identifiers needed to unlock entitlements such as larger Pro rooms. Payment method details are handled by Apple or Google; SyncLight does not collect your full payment card number.

4. How we use information

We use the information described above to:

  • Operate room creation, joining, presence, and synchronized light effects
  • Maintain local history so you can rejoin recent rooms more easily
  • Measure product performance and improve reliability through analytics
  • Detect, diagnose, and fix crashes and technical issues
  • Scan QR codes to join rooms when you choose that flow
  • Support paid SyncLight Pro features, restore purchases, and entitlement checks
  • Respond to support requests you send to our contact email
  • Protect the service against abuse and enforce our Terms of Use

5. Camera permission and QR scanning

Camera access is optional and requested only for QR join. If you deny camera permission, you can still join by entering a room code manually. Camera frames used for scanning are processed on your device for that purpose and are not intended to be stored as a media library feature of SyncLight.

6. Local storage / SharedPreferences

Local storage may keep nicknames and created/joined room history on your device. Clearing app data, uninstalling the app, or using device settings may remove this local information. Local history is for convenience and is separate from live room data stored in Firebase while a room is active.

7. Third-party services

SyncLight relies on third-party processors to provide core functionality. These providers process data on our behalf or as independent controllers according to their own terms and privacy policies:

  • Firebase Authentication — anonymous sign-in and UID management
  • Firebase Realtime Database — room, member, and effect configuration sync
  • Firebase Analytics — product usage analytics
  • Firebase Crashlytics — crash reporting and diagnostics
  • RevenueCat — subscription and entitlement management
  • Apple App Store / Apple In-App Purchase — distribution and iOS subscriptions
  • Google Play / Google Play Billing — distribution and Android purchases when enabled

We encourage you to review the privacy documentation published by Google Firebase, Apple, Google Play, and RevenueCat for details about their processing.

8. Data retention

  • Live room data in Firebase Realtime Database is retained while needed to operate the room and related presence/effect state. Closed or inactive rooms may remain until deleted, overwritten, or cleaned up as part of normal operations.
  • Local history and nicknames remain on your device until you clear app data, remove history in-app (where available), or uninstall the app.
  • Analytics and Crashlytics data are retained according to the retention settings and policies of those Firebase products.
  • Support emails you send to us are retained as needed to respond to your request and keep a basic support record.

9. Security and limitations

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate for an app of this type, including authenticated access to Firebase resources and server-side database security rules. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You should avoid placing sensitive personal data in nicknames, room-related fields, or support messages that do not require it.

10. International data processing

SyncLight is available globally. Information may be processed in the country where you use the app and in other countries where Google Firebase, Apple, Google Play, RevenueCat, or our support tools operate. Those countries may have data-protection laws different from the laws in your location.

11. Children’s privacy

SyncLight is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through SyncLight, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it where appropriate.

12. Access, correction, and deletion requests

Because SyncLight uses anonymous authentication, we may not be able to identify a specific person from an anonymous UID alone. If you want help accessing, correcting, or deleting information associated with your use of SyncLight, email timeforwork789@gmail.com and include enough detail for us to locate the relevant data where reasonably possible (for example, approximate time of use, platform, and any room-related details you are comfortable sharing).

You can also reduce local data yourself by clearing app storage or uninstalling SyncLight. Hosts can close rooms; guests can leave rooms. We will respond to valid requests within a reasonable period.

13. Flashing light safety notice

SyncLight includes flashing, strobe, and flash effects. These effects may cause seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy and may cause discomfort, dizziness, or headaches in others. Do not use SyncLight near people who are sensitive to flashing lights. Do not use SyncLight while driving or operating machinery. Stop using the app if you feel unwell. SyncLight is not a medical device.

14. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and publish the updated Policy at this URL. Continued use of SyncLight after an update means you acknowledge the revised Policy.
